Voluntary Counselling

Free confidential person-centred counselling service for people who need someone to talk things over with. This is undertaken by either a female or male (Rodney Leach) counsellor by confidential arrangement with the Volunteer Centre Organiser.

How Will Counselling Help Me?

Rodney Leach bases his practice on Confidentiality and Respect

Counselling with Rod Leach is to enable you, the client to explore the areas that you want to, for personal development or because of anxiety or distress.

Time is provided in a private space; confidentiality is adhered to within professional guidelines; attentive listening and a non-judgmental manner are fundamental conditions used to gain an accurate understanding of your experience.

If you are suffering stress, loss, abuse, money problems, difficulties at work or in the family, counselling offers you the opportunity to meet with me, as an impartial person who will help you as you find more effective ways of dealing with the distress and making decisions.

I work independently of any other agency, and receive supervision at regular intervals from an independent source so that your confidentiality is respected.

The intent of the supporting relationship is that the counsellor's respectful manner and understanding of your needs will promote your ability to respond effectively to the changes you want to make.

Rod Leach works from the Person Centred Counselling framework and bases his practice on Codes of Ethics and Practice laid down by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. These will be explained to you.

In general you can expect to see me for up to one hour, once a week. During periods interrupted by holidays you will receive advanced notice, or if I am ill you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Counsellors are not, generally advice providers, though they may have specialist knowledge in some areas that can be helpful.
